Dream of Fortune

It might hv been a "dream coming true" situation, for the young lad four years back.

Immediately after getting inducted into the Chennai's dream factory, Srikanth got a 'lover boy' image. He might have thought of retaining it for a long time, irrespective of fierce competition at that time from existing stars like Vijay / Ajith / Vikram /Surya. There was even a talk in the industry that he never used to demand fat salary for his performances. (he was practical, since he had not given any super commercial hits till now)

Dream to succeed big Posted by Hello

Eventhough he had done several movies during these 4 years, I was impressed with only one - which was obviously 'Parthipan Kanavu' due to Karu.Palaniappan's perfect screenplay, Vidyasagar's music & lead roles (Srikanth & Sneha) performance.

Other movies, which I had listed below (Except 'PK') didn't impress me that well, eventhough "Roja Kootam' made an impact commercially. Irrespective of the fact that the music compositions for these movies were good, he couldn't gain a super stardom.

Roja Koottam (Sasi/Bharathwaj)
Manasellam (Santhosh/Ilayaraja)
April Madhathil (SS.Stanley / YSR)
Parthipan Kanavu (Karu.Palaniappan/Vidyasagar)
Jhoot- R u ready (Azhagam Perumal /Vidyasagar)
Bose (Senthilkumar/YSR)
Varnajaalam (Nagulan Ponnusamy/Vidyasagar)

{did I miss any of his movies in the above list??? I mean, anything between 'Roja koottam' & 'Manasellam' !!! :-) :-)}

During this period of his survival, the heirs of directors/producers entered the industry in a big way and had taken his place - like Simbu, Dhanush, 'Jayam' Ravi ('Editor' Mohan), Ravikrishna (AM.Ratnam) & Jeeva (RB.Choudry). There was even a rumour that he was kicked out of a movie and the producer's son replaced him as the hero.

Lady Luck still smiled at him. He crossed against all those tides and is currently having three movies in the pipeline.

Kana Kandein - KV.Anand/Vidyasagar (Ready for release in these coming days, with the controversies surrounding it)
Oru naal oru kanavu - Fazil/Ilyaraja (see my earlier article on this)
Chathurangam - Karu.Palaniappan/Vidyasagar (already this has been delayed a lot).

Will he make it big now?

Eventhough I won't bet on 'Kana Kandein' (due to my confidence level on cameraman-turned-directors), I believe that Fazil & Karu.Palaniappan may be able to rotate the Dream wheel of fortune in Srikanth's favour. Still, there is nothing wrong in wishing our best for his next release 'KK'. Let us wait and see, as to when & where the wheel of fortune stops.

Srikanth has got more talent per square inch of his body than all the "heirs" you have mentioned. Coming from a non-filmi background and with no backing, even a little success of someone in Kollywood needs to be commended. When Rajaji introduced legislation for non-formal vocational courses, there was a hue and cry saying that he was trying to introduce "kula kalvi" and it was destined to keep a carpenter's son a carpenter etc. What are these Kollywood dumbos doing now except to encourage their own wards to enter this "lucrative" industry. Solvathu onnu seivathu onnu enbathu thaane thamizhar panpaadu endru namakku theriyume.
