Press "Rewind".. Just few years back
Thanks for the overwhelming wishes for my 'Kit-Kat' break.. and for those who missed me(!!), I'm back.
Last weekend, when I tuned into the local radio FM96.8, I was pulled in by a Qn of the RJ. "What would you like to correct, if you were given a chance to go 10 years back in your life?". She got few interesting replies as below....
"Will study something and won't do some mistakes which I did, during this period". (mistakes not revealed to the RJ)
"Will maintain my body thru proper diet. Will listen to some good advices of my elders which would have corrected my path"
"Will propose to my girl friend immediately, which I missed earlier"
What a chance to correct myself? So, what will I do / correct, if I'm given a chance to go 5 years back (I thought, 10 years is too long, a period)? Just tried to think over the options...
1) I would have focussed more on my career changes few years back itself, instead of recently.
2) I would have made some investments in India - either in landed properties or in stock market. During the last couple of years, both have sky-rocketted. I feel like missing the bus...
Still, nothing seemed to be lost. Because, I am content with 'better late than never' idea and confident that what I couldn't achieve in the last few years could be achieved in the ensuing years.
What about other possibilies available for you, eventhough I don't feel them for me...
1) A change in the line of studies?
2) Making up some good friendship, which were lost by accident?
3) Marriage life?? (I don't think anyone will comment openly for this, that they could have preferred a better 'better-half')
4) A Strange thought - Considering a cine career? (as Thennavan mentioned once that he missed it, when he was a young kid)
Is there anything else, which you would like to correct or do?

Ah.There are no "ifs" and "buts" in life ..Cine director , thatz a nice thought !
Ram ..Welcome back..
I wud take life as it comes..Im happy for what am now !! Like commandments of Bagavath gita....
I had the same thought two days back, what if i had a chance to go back, what would i correct ? Its quite a coincidence. Yes there are some things that i would like to do -- keep proper contacts with my friends and enjoyed life when I should have. Not get bogged down with the complexities of life. But thinking about it now, those complexities have made me a better person. So even if i had gone back, made the changes and lived the life - and again asked the same question, probably i will still have some things to change. Human heart can never be satisfied :)
Ram,
I think it is unwise to think what could have been done. But to learn from past and contemplate on what ought to be done NOW.
Hindsight is always 20/20... guess we should all be happy for what we are..its that mysteriousness which makes life so beautiful!!.
I agree with Deepak.. life is good "As it is"..
But then, i have one small Undo Request..
I wished that Indica bike put a brake on the right point :)
hi guys
"as it is" OK.. I'm also like that.
But still, a small wishful expectation, knowing that it won't happen. If it happens...
It is just a fantasy thought. (something like 'cindrella' or 'peter pan' or the recent craze 'Harry Potter' stories)
BTW.. Keerthi, atleast you wished for something realistically :-) :-) :-) (it may happen for tomorrow's buyers)
Ram,
Welcome back... While am welcoming u back... U seem to be rewinding and going back in life... I sometimes think about the ifs and buts in life too. But eventually wud realize that it's too late to even think about it, leave alone changing.
So in most cases, I wud end up telling myself, "Dont let this happen again"... which I presume is the best I can do :o)
Welcome back,
5 yrs backa???
Ippo edutha same decisions eduthu, idhe maadhiri unga post la comment pottundu iruppein.. :)
Welcome back, Ram.. And Bang with a terrific post.. I was thinking about it for the last month or so, since exactly 10 years ago from now, the biggest step in my life happened - entering a premier institute like IISc..
Very much reminds me of Kitti said in Mudhalvan: "VCR pola vazhkkaiyileyum oru rewind button irundha evlo nalla irukkum"!! I think almost everyone, at some point in their life, would surely think of going back..
IMO, my wishes are:
a) playing some sports (I missed on it.. I am quite tall .. 6' 2".. could have played and excelled in some sports.. always thought it was late.. atleast when I was 20 I could have taken up something)
b) Beefing up my body (I did it quite a bit in the last 10 years.. I was a 'ottadai kuchi' back then.. I improved.. but still would have done better)
c) Love life - yes..
hi ram.......
this is a good post man.....considering the 'out of touch' u will be hving after the break!!
btw, two things wud hv happened if i hv the 'edit/undo' thing:-)
-getting into 'vaideega'(vaathiyar/sastrigal) profession
-same time, had a hand on journalism as well
btw, no one had a thought on being a 'better human being'?!!
welcome back...each of us go into such introspective modes once in a while.
my take on this -
be it career decisions or other important decision in life, we take these decision based on situations prevailing as on a particular date and hence it might be the best decision at that particular time. However as time progresses we realize that it might have not been the best decision. This is some kind of learning. There would be no fun if we made perfect decisions all the time. One should make better decisions as he progresses in life.
Somu..'As is' is good attitude.. Still a small wish in the corner of the heart.... yearns for something.
TJS.. hopefully, if I had started blogging at that time!!!
GP.. glad to see your honest thoughts. are u sure about love life? did u miss the bus at that time?
Ranga.. I believe everyone is confident that they are already a proper human being in their heart.
Kaps.. U R right. past is past... and you learn everyday. Again, 'If...'
Hmmm....shoulda probably run away from home...rebelled or something :=)
Vinesh ... strange wish.
Ram
Welcome backafter a much needed break.
Not much regrts in terms of what I have missed. only wish I had been more prudent in my career opportunity and not been lured by the prospect of foreign job..Well, while at it enjoy. No brooding.
Thuglak
Thuglak - I am listening. Appidiya vishayum... iru iru...
C.Ram -
No looking back - you are what you are ..and if you dont like what you are ...I think life gives lot of opportunities for you to go where you want to go. Man can create his own destiny. Luck only decides how fast he reaches his destiny.
