Will you call yourself a chatterbox?

Yesterday I tried to call my wife over phone, to pass on a message. Was unable to reach her, continuously for an hour. It seemed to be my friend's wife on the other end. I knew that both of them won't stop quickly, if they start. It happened so. Fortunately, the technology has improved a lot to reduce our telecom bills on a/c of International calls. Nowadays, they have started using webcams, skypes, chat rooms and what not. Otherwise, our wallets would have seen bigger holes ..

There is a general understanding that the female gender can be easily classified as Chatterboxes. Are they the only responsible souls for such a classification?

I believe they were provided with that opportunity, which they capitalised well. In those days, Men used to work a lot outside and women were destined to be housewives. To keep themselves occupied after their regular chores, they might have donned the role of chatterboxes. It may be a genetical order as well, which continues generation after generation. So, why to blame them??? I have decided to take it on my stride [no other go!!!]

The above scribbling doesn't undermine the fact that men are also Chatterboxes, if the profession demands. It is a question of relativity. Those days you had Tenaliramans & Birbals. Now we have our politicians to fulfill this task.

How to leave our younger male generation? Various chat rooms are there to fulfuill what has been expected out of them in their job!!! (provided their employer has not blacklisted any chatrooms). I heard some Software companies in India, are not allowing Yahoo chatting. Who cares? Likes of Hello! chatroom are still available.

So, how do you classify yourself?

To finish this post in a further lighter vein, enjoy the following as well.

A Guide explaining the beauty of Niagara falls to the Tourists:-

"I welcome you all to the Niagara Falls. You are at the world's largest Waterfalls and their sound Intensity is so high, that the sound of even 20 Supersonic planes passing by can't be heard!!! Now, May I request the ladies to keep quiet so that we can hear the Niagara falls???????"

haha! nice post. Liked cogito's comment on it.

In my house, the maximum number of calls are for my sis. She is THE chatterbox in the world. If anybody can beat her, I'll be surprised. On the other hand, I am really quiet ... difficult to generalize Ram. Depends on the person.

Keerthi, she does very often. but no reaction yet!!!

Saranyan, I still think, as a whole the opposite sex excels in this dept. By now, you should have realised about your would-be, isn't it?? It seems you are cautious now itself!!!!

Aatma -- Yes, evolution.. Agreed

Anand - Welcome. Seeing u after a long gap. Dinnerkku enna panni irukkangkanu theriyalu? It depends whether she has seen it or not!!!

Cogito.. Do you think verbal chatting will be longer there, between opp sexes? I think 'kannum kannum chat seiythaal...' verbal chatting may not get a place.

Deepak.. let me see, this evening or this weekend, once this post is noticed.

Ranga.. vaaraama irukka maatiingalae

Kavitha.. What is this? No response and Silence. You are behaving in the opposite way to my post content.

Gayathri.. same reply, what I had given to Cogito. But, still I accept the fact, this changes from person to person. It may change during a period as well. I used to be an introvert before marriage. With my wife's blessings (!!), I talk better now.

Lakshmi.. thanks for dropping by. Glad that you liked the last paragraph. Incidentally, everyone was alarming(!!!) me with what will happen next, at my house!!!

MA... 'bloggerboxes'.. good one. BTW.. as you hv raised the question, Niagara doesn't seem to be the largest. I remember reading about one IGUACU FALLS in the corner of Brazil, bordering Argentina. It seems, on his visit Franklin D.Roosevelt remarked "It makes our Niagara Falls look like a Kitchen Faucet". May be our US friends can validate this... IGUACU FALLS is one of my must-see place. (a dream!!!)

Vinesh.. good reference to the 'adaimozhi' for chatterboxes.

Siddharth.. samalichutanee.. she enjoyed, with some reservations(!!!)

Ram,
I'm a chatterbox and this has happened in my home too.. me talking on the phone my husband trying to reach me and at times, he has come home itself to check if all was ok..

But you see, women (especially indian women) have only that as our outlet talking to friends and family. Men on the other hand have various other interests and diversify their energy elsewhere.
So as long as we don't harm others we are good chatting..

Cram / Thuglak - remember tea sessions during office hours ?? Men are equally potential in these matters.

But when it comes to classifying among gender - womenfolk tend to be more talkative.

Did anyone notice that after marriage the man tends to talk less. Why ? His wife does the talking and he is listening - Full stop.

There is one more perspective to this one, why women are talkative.

It is said that men are poor listener's by nature. So women have to tell things over and over again. Which makes them talkative.
