New avataar

Whenever an actor needs a break, he may decide 'Ok.. let me change my getup for the next character. Probably, it may click...'. Finally they endup tonsuring their head....

Like these following guys did....

Kamal - Sathya, Aalavandhan
Sarath - Sooriyan, Khakki
Satyaraj - Nooraavathu Naal, Jallikattu
Ajith - Red
Arunkumar - Jananam
Madhavan - Ayutha Ezuthu
Surya - Nandha, Ghajini

And a related tonsured look of Srikanth in 'Sathurangam' (yet to be released) and Dhanush in 'Athu oru Kanaa Kaalam' (yet to be released)

Some of these movies have not clicked as well. That's why some of our heroes never tried those looks..like Prashanth, Vijay, Vijaykanth etc.,

But do you know the reasons behind the following get up of the prominent businessman in the Indian BPO industry? I don't know whether it is a real one or doctored picture (looks like a real one to me)

Still the guy looks charming, eventhough he had put on some weight, compared to 13 years back!!!! Isn't it?

Sorry, but I dont find him charming anymore. Maybe because his Roja & Thalapathi image was much better???
Would you say the same thing - charming if a female actress put on so much weight in 13 years?? Just curious

The mottai I remember very much is that of "Charanraj" in Gentleman . Heard that the mottai adikkara scene in movie is real .

Add one more to this list...

Vikram wants to do the role of transvestite in his next venture after MAJA...A remake of Dilip's Chanthupottu ! ;o)

I think that's how AS looks now... getting too deep into his business is what has made him so mottu, I guess

Cogito.. your mentioning of the real tonsuring in front of the camera, reminded me of another character by Kamal. In Virumaandi, he undergoes the same treatment like Charanraj of 'gentleman'.

Somu... I heard Vikram is still trying to finalise the producer, since AM.Ratnam doesn't want to bet on this odd subjct. And reg. A.swamy.. it should be because of so much of partying.. (one of the roles of a busy businessman)

***Ram,
Actually i remember lot of movies where ppl esp 'hero' or 'villain'
either tonsure their head or wear a samiyar dress with very 'obvious' artificial beard to show that they are in disguise..And to my surprise Andha maaru veshathula yaarum avangala kandu pidikka mudiyadhu...total crap !!! Just remembered it when i read this blog abt tonsure..

Tonsuring seems to be the easiest way to change personality to most actors, though Kamal experiments with other parts too.. Vijay, in the climax of 'Friends' had a horrid nearly-mottai haircut.. Scared the hell out of me.. Hope and wish he doesnt repeat, after seeing Surya's performance.

About AS, even 8 years ago (minsara kanavu), he was good. I wish he had maintained his personality nicely even after entering into full-fledged BPO business.

JB.. as you said, it was a crap idea.. even now some characters used to come in simple makeup as if they have disguised. Some memorable characteres which I can remember are from 'Pattikaada Pattanamaa' (Sivaji) and 'Sakala Kala Vallavan' (kamal & his sister).....

Raju.. U r right. 'Friends' climax hairstyle was little bit different for Vijay. I believe he maintained similar one in 'Bhagavathi' as well..

Just now I recalled about Cheran tonsuring his head for his upcoming 'Thavamai Thavam Irundhu'.. I hope he does it for a purpose and not merely to add strength to the screenplayl.

Vatsan...Thanks for sharing this news... As a shrewd businessman, hope he will emerge in some other form soon.
