Feb - Apr - May - Jun - Dec

Don't get confused with the stuttering months in this post title... I want you to fill in some more months to make it as a better series, if you can recollect.

Recollection of what???

Some more Tamil Film names with English months (other than my post title).

Everyone should be aware that, "June R" is in a full swing under the command of debutant Director Mrs.Revathy S.Verma. It is nothing but the next movie of Jyotika, scheduled for release in Sep-05. Saritha & Kushboo have also joined Jyotika in this movie, which seemed to be a female-oriented subject.

The director has justified the reason for naming it with a month's name.. it seems to be for an instant recognition from the audience. Now that Surya has also joined the project, hope the director comes out with some unique subject in a nicely blended package. (You have Usha Utup too in this project, singing a number).

But, just by naming a movie differently with an English month, is the success assured? Past records don't assure that....

February 14 - The recently released movie directed by Hosimin with Bharath & Renuka Menon, got mixed reviews in the media due to its presentation. It is confirmed that Bharath had failed to score a hat-trick after his presence in the hits of last year - Chellamae & Kaathal.

April Mathathil - Directed by SS.Stanley with Srikanth & Sneha as the lead pair, was not a big hit eventhough it evinced some interest in the media due to the gossips surrounding the lead pair at that time. It was watchable, eventhough it was not fast paced & had too many melodramatic scenes (especially, the climax).

May Matham - Do you remember that 'Maargazhi poove..' song of ARR in which Sonali Kulkarni danced amidst the woods? The movie in which she paired with Vineeth didn't click very well in the B.O. in 1994. Eventhough it was produced by GV films and directed by R.Balu (An assistant to Mani and the son of a yesteryear famous film personality), its fate was determined by the audience. [Pl. correct me, if I am wrong with the fact!!]

December Pookkal - I don't think, this Mohan starrer released in 1986 made ripples in the B.O. Rather I would say, I don't remember honestly!!. Google says Revathy & Kamalhaasan also starred in this movie, which has this song 'Azhagaaga Sirithathu andha nilavu...'

(Eventhough I couldn't recollect any other tamil movies with English months, I could remember these Malayalam movies as well, on this line. Mohanlal's 1987 flick 'January Oru Orma' and Mammooty's early 90's 'August-1')

Latest-
I stumbled upon this news that there is a new tamil movie coming out as 'December 26'. It seems the knot of this romance movie is the Tsunami incident. This is a classic example of capitalising on an incident & a date. I doubt whether they will be able to make it noticeable, eventhough it's on a sensational incident. [To quote, the movie which went along with the Gujarat Earthquake incident -'Ragasiyamai' with 'Fivestar'Prasanna in the lead, didn't click in the B.O. due to its presentation].

Its a co-incidence that I got this news article thru Kaps - which talks about 26th of few other months, on which certain disasters struck our country. Jan-26th (2002) Kutch Earthquake, Feb-26th (2003) Godhra incident, Jun-26th (2005) Gujarat floods, Jul-26th (2005) Mumbai floods.

I hope our Movie creators won't fall on these months/dates as well, since the movie titles alone won't make them successful. The movies need more substance, which I hope they will understand and give.

I guess we can make use of the unused months! Next would be days.! Anything like that.!

Sometimes I wonder if beyond a certain point they'll have any names?

The 26th day disaster history is scary.!!

GP...thanks for the info. Was it released in the last few years? I don't remember noticing it. Probably it might have come and gone. Pl. let me know, if u hv details.

Mr.Narayanan.. U r right about the 26th episode.

Vatasan... I assume 'Bombay' was an exception. Regarding the new movie titles, what about "Kaathalal Kasinthurugi..."? Any plans to market it somehow!!!! I'm eagerly awaiting for someone to grab it...

I have my own doubts about June R. The starcast looks more suited for a megaserial :-) They tried to hide the heroes name when it was obvious that only Surya will pair with Jyothika.

Looks like June R will not have too many commercial elements that we see in other movies.

maybe u should come up with another post on film names based on tamil months. Aadi perukku, vaikasi poranthachu etc.

Ranga.. You had revealed my plan of making another post... anyhow, you can add 'aadi viratham' 'aadi velli' etc. if you want. You can even add 'Aadi' (Vijay's movie after 'Sivakasi' - originally named as 'Mass' and renamed now).

Deepak..I included 'August-1' already in my post. Hope you missed it in between the lines.

Kaps.. U may be right. 'June R' may not have commercial elements in it. Just need to keep the fingers crossed for its success.

Somu..Sept-26 - is another news to us. Thanks for highlighting it as well.

Cogito.. pullarikkuthu....!!!
