MBA from IBM

You need to believe that I didn't intend to watch even a glimpse of 'Malargal' (First episode yesterday). I swear... honestly :-) :-) However, it so happened that I had to cross the living hall and got to see a scene.

This was the situation at that time...

An industrialist and his wife are talking about marriage alliances for their daughter. While going thru the photos, the girl's dad selects a picture and decides to visit them to finalise the alliance. The girl's Mom doesn't like the idea... she tells, "Indha sambandham ellam vendanga, IBM-la MBA padikkira en ponnukku ithellam sariyaa varaathu..." and it goes on. [In English: "Let us not go for this alliance. This may not suit our daughter studying MBA in IBM...."]

Got Shocked.... My wife also got confused [that means, I heard it correctly]. I didn't know that IBM has started MBA courses.

Was it an inadvertent error by the script writer (mixing it with IIM) or are they portraying the girl's Mom as an innocent lady [which doesn't seem to be, for me]? Or is there any 'Institute of Business Management' (IBM) which the script writer might have wanted to use in the script?

Definitely, 'Thaaikulangkal' may not mind {notice} all these type of silly errors, while getting engrossed with sensational and sentimental stories!!!

Anyhow, I don't intend to watch it anymore expecting some rare comedies like this, packaged in the sentimental stuff.... :-) :-)

Makes me remember an S.v.Shekhar drama Joke " the guy is an MLA..nee ennaya padichi irukke ? sir ..naan ..B.A (Chemistry) ...daaii...B.com (History) ..daai....sorry sir ..8 class tamil medium ...yen french edukkalaya ? " ...

But on a serious note, I think IBM has an internal university (kind of a thing) but not sure if they give out MBA and all .

don't expect logic and correct facts in mega serials. it looks like a goof-up. Not many would have spotted such things.

Looks to me as a perfect goof-up.. I think the scriptwriter has crossed IIM and BIM (Birla Institute of Management) and made it IBM.. idhellam kandukka koodathu..

I remember this all started in "Azhagan" in which one alliance for Bhanupriya is a 'guy working in IBM'.

Cogito.. possible that IBM has an university inside the campus.. but do you think our script writer might have touched upon it? I doubt... :-) :-)

Kaps.. I agree. Many would not have observed it all.. just like that the dialogue was delivered.

Vatsan.. Ellam oru ethirparppu thaan. Namakku therinja vishayatha romba sulabamaa thappa solurangaleenu...

Balaji.. we can tolerate these serials, only if we make up our mind that we are watching comedy serials. no logic.. but will be full of fun (if you have the patience)

Raju.. I agree. I never went to the living hall, till the serial was over.

Deepak... LOL.. that's a good one. (Phd. in masters!!)

Long long back in The Illustrated Weekly of India, they usually covered unusual people and one such person was a God-man by name Om Sadachari. In the interview published in that issue, he had said "look what IBM did in Bhopal". Idhai padichchuttu en friend Srikanth vizhundu vizhundu sirichchaan :-)

Did not see the serial, but can understand as this seems to be the normal routine in most serials...
Its my policy that I watch serial only once in a fortnight....well, i get to understand the drift of the story anyways....:-)
The only serial that I watch regularly is "Chidambara Rahasiyam", which comes on sun tv on wednesdays....

JB.. Glad that I didn't watch the part (girl's crying) which you are mentioning... thappichen..

Thennavan.. Did 'IW' publish what that guy had told? Didn't they try to correct the error? Seems they wanted to show off the guy's knowledge!!! LOL...

Kavitha.. I agree that once in a while you can watch and understand the story line easily... BTW..is 'Chidamabara Ragashiyam' worth watching? Just a curiosity.. eventhough I may not watch it...

Rags.. yes, you need to go there with a right frame of mind to enjoy. Otherwise, it may irk you most of the time.

MAn spot on - I was watching it yesterday and was wondering what the heck is that :))..

But the serial was good - very good start - but only one prob - the father finds a girl in the maatu santhai and asks her father for her hand for his son! Dont they ever ask what's her age?character??!! ridiculous :)

But the serial seems to be good! Loads of sponsors! The title song reminds me of some Ilayaraja song :)

Visithra.. yes, that's why they might have included this.. it was very hilarious at that time.

Viji.. sometimes it happens.. some people may not know exactly the education available nowadays. however, in this serial the mother character cannot be shown as ignorant about her daughter's institute

WA... you have to believe me.

Arjuna.. surprising that you like it. anyhow perception differs.. today's joke, once again accidentially noticed... 'Naan underwear business panuren.. avar software business panuraru...'

Ram: yeah, i watched 'Malargal' starting yday and couldn't believe what i was seeing and hearing. The father finding a girl in "Maatu Santhai" and the other father thinking of getting a village boy for a IIM MBA-ha,ha.......this is all so dumb and i feel sad that a lot of things haven't changed in the serails etc back in India.

ram did u notice - the girl is moola natchathiram - so no one marries her - so our father marries her to his son!! Holy ghost! :))

Now chetan has come as a villain and I have lost hope in this serial since I never like villains popping in! Metti olli never had any particular villains and that was one reason y it was so successful :)

Ram - without mega serial - life wuld be boring here in London :(

Ok the main point I noticed today was the underwear owner says to the guy "avanga software company -la irukira athana perukum naama thaan uniform kodukanum"

When did software companies have uniform dress code? :))

Mitr.. thank god. I didn't see those 'Mattu sandhai' sequence etc., Decided not to cross the living hall anymore, during that time slot. If I do, I know I will definitely find some glaring comedy(!!) scenes....

Ganesh.. I havn't watched it yet. After 'Ghajini' my curiosity has increased... So, definitely I may watch it soon.. [there are 'n' no. of english movies which I would like to watch, which I am keeping aside due to lack of time :-( :-( ]

Arjuna.. Whatever you say, this makes me firm not to step that side during that time slot. "software co... uniform" is another good joke which I missed.. Anyhow, you can enjoy the comedy everyday, since you are feeling bored.

But, do you watch at the same 19:30 IST timeslot? Or is there any change in the timeslot to suit your evening timing? Hopefully the feed should be at a different time, since this 19:30 IST should be your 14:00!!!! Am I right?

Probably you can start making a post in your blog every week, summarising the comedy scenes of the serial, which we don't intend to enjoy on our own :-) :-)

Ram - yeah ur right - for us the 19:30 slot is usually at 18:30 - one hour ahead - since we have these problem of reducing 1 hr during the summer and increasing by 1 hr during the winter..So its at the 18:30 slot :)

he he that seems to be a good idea :P
