Listen..Pick.. Name...

It was the pattern for a long time.. No dearth for this pattern in Indian movies, where they easily pick up some poetic or lousy names from the hit songs. But do they really make it worth watching - eventhough the titles are the hooks to pull in more audience?

Only few do..

This week, some of you would have noticed the ads for SUN TV's afternoon movies, which had 'Engitta Modhadhe' (Vijaykanth-Shobana-Kushboo) and 'Rajaa Kaiya Vachchaa' (Prabhu, Goutami) as the fillers. They, who picked up the titles from the songs of 'Rajathi Raja' and 'Apoorva Sagotharargal' might have grossed some returns in the 'B & C' centres.

Since an easy recognition is available, producers vie for these sort of titles.. However, nothing is guaranteed. All depends on its stuff.. and not merely on titles, as I had mentioned in some of my previous posts. Let us go thru a ride of movies, which were named after certain hit songs. I have classified them into 3 categories, as per my little knowledge. Suggestions are welcome.....

MGR's 'Naan aanaiyittal' (out of his own 'Enga Veetu Pillai') & 'Ninaithathai Mudippavan' (his 'Nam Naadu')

Sivaji's 'Pattikaada Pattanamaa' (from MGR's 'Mattukkara velan'), 'Raman Ethanai Ramanadi' (his own 'Lakshmi Kalyanam'), 'Aalayamani' (his own 'Paalum Pazhamum')

'Nenjam Marappathillai' born out of Sridhar's own 'Nenjil oor aalayam'
